I think 7:00 is the best time, because most very nice restaurants are very bust later at night. 7:00 is the time between when early diners finish eating, and before the late night diners start eating.

with the weather right now, 6:30 outside is still WAY too hot!
How bout you get a couple drinks by the bar first and make reservations either at 7 or 7:30 so at least the sun is setting by the time you start eating outside.

7 - a lot of restaurants have two sit down times though and are usually 6 and 8. If this happens at the restaurant you are trying to go for make it for 8 and hang out at hte bar

We go around half an hour after6 the opening, which is usually about 5:30-6:00 p.m. Better service, and better attention to the food.

no later that 7pm...that is the optimal time...anything later than that and you will not get a good table...also it depends on what you are going to do afterward.
