Im tryning to put a band together but the hermonica player is the most unreliable ever to set face on the earth. Hes a good player, the best i can find but i want to head out west and do some hard rocking out there. my hermonica player is a ladies man and one minute were in the bar while the next hes drunk and goin out the back door with some fat tub thats finally gonna get filled. Shes slowed us down for weeks before, and has really been a pain in my ***. Im not the best example myself but iwant that hermonica in my band but dont know if I should kick hisss to the curb.

Hard rocking and harmonica have never appeared in the same sentence, I believe...

He's not doing it because he's not getting paid enough

A good harmonica player that always shows up is better than a great one that shows up when they feel like it. Welcome to the music business. You have to decide what is most important to you - band mates that will be as dedicated as you or great ones that slack off half the time. You already know the answer to your question, but I can see why you posted it here - its tough to say goodbye to friends. However, the band business is still a business. If you owned an office business and one of your employees showed up half the time and was drunk on the job, what would you have to do?

Also, I'm interested in what you do - I'm a blues-rock guitarist.

Kick him to the curb! It's better to find another player than trying to get them to practice or performances. If you can't find another harmonica-find a keyboardist with keyboard with a harmonica sound.

Harmonica players are like that. That's why they like to hang out with musicians.

well you should first tell him what he's doing , maybe he has no clue, you never know, he could just be a dumbass... if all else fails dump him, you'll find someone else who might actually come to practice... hope everything works out...
