The Americans certainly do - we have a highly educated population with a high standard of living - we should all know better.

Yes people do deserve the goverment they get..... Really how many people even pay attention? Most dont even vote, and those that do just do it to feel that they were involved. They really dont know the issues that trouble this country. They vote for stupid reasons Like the woman who voted for Bill Clinton because she thought he was cute. What!!!!! Next time stay home. What about all these people who think Hillary is the smartest women in the country? Can any of them name one.Just one.... Major piece of legislation she has ever worked on? The answer would be none. Then.....What has she done that makes her so smart? Nothing..... However they are so out of touch. That they feel they have to catch up. They listen to the liberal media woo her,and build her into a hero. So they believe it and vote for her. Thats just an example of how people get what they deserve.....

No. All forms of government are an infringement on individual freedom. Nobody deserves to have their "inalienable right to life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness" infringed upon by a government entity that is not doing what that person wants. Everyone deserves the greatest degree of freedom that is possible.
As the Tao te Ching says: The best leader is unknown to his people.

Yes, people do deserve the government they get. It seems that some forget that governments are established by the will of the people. I know that communism and fascism are structures that oppress the people, but in many cases it is the people that put these governments into power (or let them be in power.

No, they do not. Governments only claim to do it for the better of the people, but this is complete bullshit, and we all know it. Whoever thinks the government pays attention to its people because it simply cares, is thinking wrongly, in my opinion. The government always has its own agenda, and it's going to do what's best for itself, while including the people, but actually using them in the meantime. If the government were to always do what's best for the people, things would be totally different.

The answer is yes, the average intelligence of the people they elect is usually the equal to the average intelligence of the general populace. For example the general populace could never relate the way they think with a genius, or at the other end of the spectrum a moron. Though people don't deserve liars.

Yes. Even if the uneducated masses vote in a bum you don't like, you--or people like you--let it happen. Someone had to let unions and the federal government take over schools, someone buys--and ergo supports--bad newspapers, millions go to movies that puts money in the pockets of totalitarian marxists.
The silent people deserve our current circus of a government--myself included!

Yes.
If you vote for someone simply because they oppose the person you don't like then you have made a poor choice.
If you vote for someone because of one issue only then you have made a poor choice.
If you don't vote at all then you have made a poor choice.
In all these cases you deserve what you get.
The only rational and responsible choice is to come to a conclusion about the issues, listen to all candidate positions, and vote for the one who wants the same sorts of outcomes that you do.
