I've always approached my boss first. I asked for a meeting and had a letter of resignation in hand.

I would tell your boss first. That's the person to whom you directly report. I don't know if you're required to inform your HR department. Typically your boss will do that. Once you've told your boss, that's your official "notice" that you'll be leaving.

I told my supervisor first and friends, but not the store manager (who I talked to a lot) or HR. They ended up finding out through word of mouth and the store manager found out because he asked me why I was going to the restroom 10x a day haha so point being, advise your boss and HR within a few days of one another Id say. They cant fire you because youre pregnant. I felt comfortable with my higher- up's so I just flat out talked to them, eventually.

Your boss since he/she is the one who hired you, HR just did the paper and administrative work to get you hired. If you tell your HR department first it will get back to him/her and may cause tension or a miscommunication as to why you’re leaving. Always leave a job on good terms.

I would tell your direct supervisor first. You work with him/her more closely and hearing something like that 2nd or 3rd hand will make for a long 60 days. Also that person can take any projects you are working on and shift them to others while a replacement for you is found

Definitely your boss. You need to pay this person that respect because he/she will be the person that is sought out for recommendation's. A human resources person doesn't know you from any other employee, your leaving is just one name out of many that will not be there.
