Great question. Massage oil is usually a vegetable oil or a blend, including almond, olive, and mineral oil. It tends to stay in the fabric, especially cotton! Scented ones never seem to go away.

I would try this: soak the sheets in hot water with a generous squirt of Dawn dish detergent. Dawn seems to dissolve almost any oil or grease.

Rinse them well before putting them into the washer, as Dawn will suds up like crazy and could overflow the machine. Launder with a regular laundry detergent.

If you look at the ingredients label on detergent, you will find they are all very similar. What works best on the massage table sheets that I clean is a Heavy soil cycle with hot water. Adding a scoop of Oxyclean to your soap will help a lot. Mix 1 cup bleach with 1 cup of water together. When the sheets in the washer are throughly wet, add bleach/water mix. This way, if your sheets are colored the bleach will not remove any color.

Any type should do just fine as long as you use it full strength and let it set for a few minutes and even possibly take an old toothbrush and give a scrub on the soiled area, then throw in for the wash cycle, but before drying in a dryer, check to see if the spot was lifted, if not, try pretreating it again. With a little elbow "grease", you should be able to get it out.
