Do I really miss her, or just the chemical reactions in my brain when I was around her? Or is there any point in making that distinction?

Is love a wonderful chemical reaction or is it a choice?

Its been four years since I last saw her and I still think of her almost every day (blush).

It might not be either. In four years time it might be an entirely different amorphous entity. A lot of other things have been mixed in with it by now. The distinction might matter if there were something that could be done about it. I think it's probably part chemical & part something like missing a portion of an apendage. We aren't with people just because of how they make us feel, we also like them, (Like a book) need them (like a nurse or mechanic) and they have value (in a good way).

Love is a wonderful chemical reaction and a choice. You can't do anything about chemistry but you can always make a choice. I chose love everytime.

I think the purpose of life is to love the unloveable and f**k the un-f**kable (metaphorically speaking) and try to pretend we are neither in the process.

Great that you can still blush. You are not jaded or hurt beyond repair. You are going to get to do this again, you know. Great love is coming your way. You'll be ready when you're ready.

I am responding to the last part of your question..."Is love a wonderful chemical reaction or is it a choice?"
I think the chemical reaction is actually infatuation. When it is new, the pheramones affect your brain and give you a high feeling that can be easily mistaken for being "in love." However, I believe that true selfless love comes only after your body has become used to these pheramones and is no longer affected in such a way. Only then can you make the choice to love someone because of who they are, and not the feeling they induce in your brain. So from the way you framed your questions, I am guessing that you are really just missing the pheramonal reaction.
This will be the true test: in 2 months if you still miss her, it may be love. If not, you'll have long forgotten by then.
