My favorite is "Cotton Comes to Harlem", the 1970 adaptation of Chester Himes' novel of detectives Coffin Ed and Gravedigger Jones (Raymond St. Jacques and Godfrey Cambridge), directed by Ossie Davis. Great action, great comedy, terrific performances by a top-notch cast, and real Harlem locale shooting make this early entry one of the best.
