I need to know all the types of fancy tailed guppies, and possible images. I already know what the yellow snakeskin guppy looks like.

Also, I would like to know what types you breed to get other types.

What types will get me more money?

How much should I sell the guppies for (the ones I dont want-the puure-breed ones) I live in the N.E. USA area.(PA)

Please inform me of any other info that may be similar.

Please inform me of any links you may have used.

*I will be choosing a best answer.

*Please, I only want real answers, no silly stuff.

Thank you!

First you need to be sure you are starting with pure strain fish and the only real way to do that it to buy from a hands on breeder directly. As to what will sell the best, that depends. If you are selling them locally then talk to locally owned shops about buying your guppies. See what types and colors they might like best or think their customers would like the best. Pure strain, show quality guppies that are raised to a large size and you can insure virgin females will sell for quite a bit of money. No doubt you can find many listings for them on places like aquabid.com for example and that might give you a starting place for what to charge. Remember though, a shop is buying to resell them and will not pay anywhere near regular web prices. On the plus side though, you don't have to worry about shipping them and all of the costs, materials and time that takes. If you are shipping you need styrofoam shipping boxes, bags, filler material, shipping labels etc as well as the time to take them to the Post Office to ship them out. That eats profits big time as most buyers will only buy a trio or two from you and you have to ship a lot of containers. Selling to a shop on the other hand means one trip to the pet store with 50-100 guppies, get your cash and go.
Here's a list of Guppy clubs, it appears some of them may not be too far from you and would be an excellent source of information as well as breeding stock.

Personally, in my area, Green or blue Moscows and red snakeskins sell well, but that could be really different in your area. My kids are making a nice little profit selling to 3 local stores. Blue Moscow below.

Here's a link with lots of pics of various strains as well as informaiton about them. They sell many as well.

The real trick is to have bigger, healthier, prettier guppies than the wholesaler at a very similar price. If you do that, you will sell fish.

Best of luck and if I can help more feel free to email me.

It's difficult to answer this question because new varieties are being created by the hour! The best advice to give you is to get a guppy with a trait that you like and try to make that particular trait shine through dominantly. We don't need another Tequila Sunrise or Metallic Blues or Black Velvets or Yellow Snakeskins(though I don't think I've seen snakeskin in many other colors! That might be an idea) Look around at the different guppy varieties and societies in your area and see what you can come up with.

First off, if you are going to do this I suggest doing your own research and not relying on what others say.

I would look for a local fish/aquarium club in your area and join up. They will be your best resource for selling tips and connections in your area. The International Guppy Association would be another great reference for you and has a lot of info on their site. http://www.ifga.org/
This organization has all the info you need from set up requirements to what they look for in each strain of guppies when they are judging them for show.

Then I would look at what you need to sell your fish (Aquaculture licenses here in FL run $50/yr and allow you to sell your fish to local stores for cash.) You will most likely need something like this for you to get cash at public stores or wholesalers in your area.

Good Luck!

Check out the strains sold on some breeders' websites. The fish you buy at pet stores are not pure bred strains, so having a pure line is what would get you more money. (3rd link below has good reference to breeding pure strains)

has some suggestions on pricing and selling your spawns and culls (last paragraph).
