i know it needs direct sunlight and thats where i have in my bakyard in the sun

Go to the garden dept of the hardware store and buy a moisture meter. They cost $5 or less and take the guess work out of watering. You stick the probe in the soil and it instantly tells you the moisture level.

The amount of water needede depends on (1) how much annual rainfall your area gets...(2) it depends on how sweet you want your grapes to be. The less water, the sweeter the grape! If you live in a dryer area you need to water 2-3 times a week. For wetter areas, let nature handle it or once a week in mid to late summer.
