There aren't enough celebrations in the world! One of my favorite memories was of the Summer Solstice street parade in Seattle. I haven't seen anything more fun before or since!

(I'm from New Orleans and have attended many Mardi Gras parades. The Summer Solstice parade in Seattle was much more fun!)

Rare Earth's lyrics say, "I just want to celebrate another day of livin' - I just want to celebrate another day of life." More people need to feel that way. Maybe it would be a pleasant world if they did.

I'm not into any spiritual definitions of summer solstice... all it is, is the longest day of the year. The only time I did anything for it was in Nome, AK in 2003, when I joined the community in celebrating the Midnight Sun Folk Fest, which included swimming in the icy cold Bering Sea (the Polar Bear Swim) and drying off by a bonfire, and watching the Nome River Raft Race. Since then, I've only mentally noted that it was June 21st, and the beginning of summer.

Celebrating the seasons is not a wiccan thing. It's more about enjoying the world around you and appreciating all the little things in life. I say celebrate!!!!!! Don't let anyone tell you not to!!! Revel in the longest day of the year. Enjoy the sun while he lasts. (Which, btw, in ak is a really long time, LOL). I think we might see a sunset in a month or two. That'll be nice. LOL

just celebrate I am very hopeful that this summer will bring me good things that I have been crying over and need badly. And I hope this summer will bring many happy things to everyone in this world. I want this summer to be bright.

I KNOW THAT MANY PEOPLE MAKE A BIG DEAL OF IT- THOSE WITH DIFFERING RELIGIONS.
I THINK IT BEING THE SUMMER SOLSTICE IS FINE..
I SEE NO NEED TO MAKE A BIG DEAL OF IT. NOT LIKE IT IS A REAL HOLIDAY!

I don't think it's wrong. This is one of the oldest "celebrations" on earth, I think it should be a global holiday.
