The ocean would actually decrease. Because you would remove the sponge, and it's contents.
Where do you think the water goes once it's absorbed into the sponge? Do you think it just disappears?

Too early to think...I have not had all of my daily required coffee yet...
Maybe about an inch...the porous sponges are already filled with water...take the sponges out and the water will drop by about an inch...not a noticeable difference...
Guys when you "remove" something, the water level doesn't go up...where did some of you go to school? Al Gore High?

lol the ocean would be a little lower actually because of the weight a sponge is after being full grown...look at austraillia and it's coral reifs deep and has sponges attached to it
