Nothing major. It's just another name for a second string side. You can have B or C sides also, but that doesn't happen too often.

There is no significant meaning for "A" except that Team "A" is not the National Team, but the second string team.

"A" just refers to a team that is just used in warm-up matches. It could include National Players or just domestic players. The result of these matches do not count in the series.
