The walmart in my area still have there live fish section. I have got most of my stuff there including a lot of my fish. And they are doing great i might add. A lot of people will not buy from walmart and i am not sure why unless it's just me. Because I have had wonderful luck. Tho i went to a walmart about 50 miles from me the other weekend and it made me sick they had there African dwarf frogs in a small container all by them self's and they should have room to swim around in I feel the same way about the Betta's, that a lot of these store have them in small containers also. and it's not just walmart that leaves the Betta that way i have seen almost every pet store do it.

The wal-mart I go to still have their fish. I bought my Betta from there a couple weeks back. He seems to be enjoying his new home. Although I have heard stories that they don't give their fish proper care. Their fish are more prone to disease due to Wal-Mart's lack of care. Just look at how small the fish tanks and containers are .

Wal Marts all over are getting rid of a lot of counters that require staffing. Not just in pets, also fabric departments, etc. One of my local stores has gotten rid of their fish, yet the other one still has theirs. I think you'd have to ask a manager if they knew the plans for the local store.

No, but I would never reccomend going to Walmart for live fish. I have heard unbelievable horror stories of Walmart employees that have no idea what they are talking about. They will just try and sell you the most expensive ammounts of fish they think you would be willing to pay for. Most also keep their tanks in very poor condition which transmits disease much more quickly. Even chains like Petco and Petsmart are way better than Walmart, they might have a clue what they are doing.

I hope so. They should not be allowed to sell fish. They don't properly take care of them. They got huge amounts of complaints from angry fish keepers. Everytime I saw them at the store, all the tanks were overstocked and not a healthy fish in the whole lot. Everything was sick. Walmart sucks, didn't you already know that? Petco is almost as bad. Petsmart is not much better either.

Yeah. Mine in Dallas got rid of its fish section. I agree with previous posters. Walmart employees don't know much about fish. Plus, all the fish I've bought at Walmart died quickly. Stick to the pet store. I got my current fish, Juanita, at a local pet store. She's a year old now. =)
