i have an AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (socket 754)
now im trying to upgrade into the 64 bit world with windows vista

how do i switch my computer into 64 bit mode so i can begin the install of vista?
i know i wont see any effects untill im in a 64bit enabled OS

There is no switching it into 64 bit mode involved. Vista comes in two versions, a 32 bit one and a 64 bit one. If you install the 32 bit one, you will have a 32 bit OS, if you install the 64 bit one, you will have a 64 bit OS, its as simple as that. To correct what another person said, almost all 32 bit software will run in a 64 bit OS.

You will need to get 64 bit compatible drivers and software for all of your computer parts and programs. Sometimes it’s hard to find 64 bit software and most 32 bit software won’t work with 64 bit OS. Having a 64 bit processor is ok but you don't need a 64 bit OS unless you need tighter security. A normal home or small office PC is secure enough without the hassle of using 64 bit technology.

if u want to feel the real power of 64bit OS ..u should install..
64bit softwares....win-vista..is a 64 bit OS u can install it on to Ur system...but u should also upgrade Ur RAM size in to at least "1GB"....for better performance they recommend "3GB".
and a graphics card....

Once the OS is installed the Kernel will give you the 64bit benefits, however if you run 32bit applications they will only run in 32bit modes.

I don't recommend the Vista "downgrade" until the problems go away.
