Lets be totally honest. Now is the time for the democrats to seize control of the executive branch, but instead of running your average presidential candidate, they are either running and african american or a woman. I think this is going to blow their chances. What do you think? People hate Bush and many have turned on the republican party for good, but these people arent going to vote for a black man or a woman. This is seriously not a racist question. If Barrack Obama runs I will definitely vote for him. I even had a chance to meet him when he came and talked at my school. He is a great guy, and one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. I dislike Hillary as a person, it has nothing to do with her being a woman.

I wonder myself. I used to give political surveys in my spare time via telephone to save for a trip to SC and I'll tell you, even many republicans are EXTREMELY upset with the Bush administration. They said that they wouldn't vote republican this time around despite their history.

I think as it stands, the democrats may be blowing their opportunity. If the republicans can bring in a moderate member to the race that is willing to speak with democrats and republicans alike, I still think they would win out over a black or a woman. We just aren't there yet as a country, IMO.

I think that the real part of blowing their chances are not necessarily in who the candidate is. They started out trying to deal with issues that they ran on in the last election. They got things started and then came to an absolute stop. They are now playing to politics rather than showing the nation that they know how to run at least one branch of the government.
They need to make a difference. Fix the divide in the government and show the country that they can succeed. Instead they spend months trying to find enough dirt on the President. Ain't going to work.

The "Black Man/Woman" thing is not the only way they are blowing it...They can't even get an elected leader to represent them (they get elected and then betray them)..they seriously need to find a candidate that could pull some cross over votes to even have a chance in '08..Even most of those conservatives who are ticked off at the Republican Party will not be willing to vote for the people the left are offering up for election...

The problem is not that they are running a black man and a woman, it's that they are running a first term senator with no experience or new ideas and a second term senator reviled by both Republicans and Democrats in the Senate who isn't even from the state she represents (and is a closet Marxist to boot).

I think you're looking at it backwards. I think that the democrats can't really lose the next election, so they might as well take the opportunity to field a black person or a woman. Unless Ron Paul gets the Republican nomination, the Democrats could nominate a convicted pedophile running from his prison cell and he would win as long as he's anti-war.

I disagree....if we continue to have to run all white males that is a sad reflection on our society. While I think there are a large number of people that would not vote for a woman or a black man, you only need 50% of the vote to become president.

As always, they are too afraid to stand firmly behind an issue. thats too bad. If I were a senator, i would have voted to defund the war and allow the chips to fall where they may.

They blew their golden opportunity in 2004 by nominating John Kerry.

I don't think it's about them running a woman and an african american. I think it is that neither candidate is qualified for the job.
