You can't possibly see the US in two weeks but as one who has been a legal resident of 18 states and traveled in all but 3 here is my top 10:
1. Yellowstone National Park
2. Grand Canyon
3. Niagra Falls
4. Glacier national Park
5. Las Vegas (you can't describe it...you have to see it)
6. Disney World (including EPCOT)
7. Yosemite National Park
8. Waikiki Beach in Hawaii
9. Baseball game at Wrigley in Chicago
10.Florida Gulf Coast beaches

It's a VERY big country and 2 weeks isn't a lot of time, so I suggest that you pick one section of the country and explore that first. And being as I am only familiar with the Northeast, I'll give you some suggestions about here:

You definitely want to check out Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and NYC if you are into history, museums, city night life, theater, dining out, etc etc. In fact, they are probably the best in the entire country for that.

Also check out some of our beaches, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia all have very nice white sand beaches, as does Florida if you're willing to make the trip.

Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive - if you are into hiking and camping and outdoorsy-type stuff

Upstate New York has some very nice wineries and scenic mountains. Also check out Niagara Falls.

That right there is more than enough to occupy you for 2 weeks. Don't push yourself. If you're looking for outdoor adventures, I'd probably go out West. However, if you're looking for history and culture, come to the east, however you won't be able to do both in 2 weeks. The U.S. is HUGE!!!

Well, if you are going to the US for only 2 weeks, you probably shouldn't hop all over. Start with the west- maybe spend a few nights in LA. Then go to San Fransisco or Vegas. After the west, I would skip the Mid- US and go straight to Florida for a couple days, then go to DC or North Carolina. (If you just want to relax go to NC- they have great beaches). Then I would end at New York, and go home.

Like a rush? .....Go whitewater rafting on the Gauly River near Fayetteville West Virginia. 1 or 2 day trips. Beautiful scenery and a great ride down the river. Maybe check Class VI website.

New York City, especially Manhattan.

The Grand Canyon in Arizona.

The redwoods in northern California.

Maryn, still thinking--there's a lot to filter
