Hell Yea he should holdout. LJ and LT are the best backs in the NFL are in the same conference and division. 1.7 million dollars is not going to pay a man who had 400 plus carries last year and WAS the Chiefs offense. Now with Trent Green gone and a young QB they need LJ more than ever to run the ball for a balanced attack. He deserves more money.

I love to watch Larry Johnson play and love what he does for the Chiefs, but holding out is such a ***** move. If he didn't play that well and was just an average back, Kansas City couldn't go and lower his salary. I would understand if he was a free agent and looking for a big pay day, but he's not through with the contract he has. I really do believe he's worth more money, but I think he's going about getting that money the wrong way. And really, if I understand the situation correctly, the money part of the contract extension isn't the big problem. His biggest problem is the length of the contract. He's looking for an 8 year deal like LT got, and the Chiefs are only offering 4 or 5 years.

OK....
A. Frank Gore was the 2nd best back in the league last year, not Johnson ( I can only imagine there is a consensus that ladanian is #1)
B> No athelete should ever hold out, ever. You know why? Because not too many people get to playa game for a living and make a minimum of 250000 dollars a year. if I were the 620th best employee at my job, I wouldn't have a job, but these guys get league minimum, and live pretty damn nice.
Now I think athletes are entertaining, and we all love sports here, but I am so friggin' tired of these guys crying poverty. if I had 1.7 million dollars a year for 5 years I could retire. but near 10 million isn't enough for these guys?!?!?!? ridiculous

so 1.7 million isn't enough???
He signed the contract in the first place. So he said... I'll take this much money for this many years, that'll be enough.... but now it's not??? He should be a leader (which he's not) and show up and bring it. The Chiefs don't want to lose him, so you can guarantee they'll be trying to get something done.
That being said... I love LJ the football player, and if he holds out, he'll eventually get paid, but at what cost to the team chemistry?

He definitely needs to hold out. He is a great player, and since everyone seems to be saying that he'll have a short career, he should be making at least like $10 million a year. If he's only going to have a few years where he's good, he should be making bank for those years since he is so good.

Absolutely, Herm Edwards ran him WAY too much last yr, the kid is amazing. I think Brodie Croyle at QB will help LJ. Croyle is an athlete with a cannon and is young and savvy. They could challenge SD if LJ is used correctly

I think he should definitely holdout because he deserves to be on a better team. He is a great running back.

Hold outs never really work for the player. He should fulfill his contract since he signed it to begin with. After he plays out his contract he will be able to demand more.
I wish I only made 1.7 million :)

True, he deserves more money but he signed a contract for that amount. If he was not producing those #'s and lost the job to the backup, he would not be willing to give any of that money back.

Yes he should hold out. He deserves more than that even if he did sign the contract. I don't think it will hurt the team chemistry. Everyone in KC knows how important he is.
