did it smell so bad?

ugg yesterday there was one under my fridge in the garage. oh my god did it stink. the smell was prettty bad. we did not know waht it was untill we looked for the source of that smell and we found it dead. yuck!!!!!!!!!

Great! An opportunity to tell my dead mouse story....

So, I got a brand new sports car. Being very proud, I drove it up to my folks place to show it off. My dad has a small ranch where we enjoy camping and hunting. It being the season, I met him out at the ranch rather than driving into town. During the night some enterprising young mouse apparently crawled into the air conditioning duct work. The next day it was time for me to head back home. It being a typical hot Texas day, the first thing I did when I got in the car was turn on the AC. The first think I heard was:

BRRRRPPPPP..... followed by little bits of mouse fuzz and parts flying out of the AC vents of my 3 day old fancy automobile. That was gross, but not so bad. However, after a couple of days there began to be a noticeable odor in the vehicle. Worse than that, since the little critter didn't just die in a crevice somewhere, but rather was splattered throughout the vents, cleaning it up involved having to disassemble the whole interior and clean out the inside of all of the AC duct work (a rather costly procedure).

Just be thankful that yours died in a place that is relatively easy to get to...

If you think that's bad, try not being able to get to it! We have an older house and the crawl space is blocked by a thorn bush and on the other side of the house some of the bricks fell away and we didn't notice and a rat/mouse crawled under and died. The hole was too small for anyoen to crawl into and besides the crawl space being blocked it was also clear on the other side of the house away from where the dead rat was.

We had to 'put up with the smell' for about 2 weeks. I called it our zombie.

Yes, but only in our old house. Our kitties are good hunters. One time I found a dead baby mouse in the cat carrier. My dad told me that once my cat Lucy just sat in front of the stove(there were baby mice under there, there mom I think was either killed by a mouse trap or a cat)she was smart, she sat in front of the stove for 2 days, because she knew they would come out evetually, when they did, she got them! My other cat was scary good at catching and killing mice. I hated that evil cat. Sometimes they just left them laying around and didn't eat them, annoying! You are right though, yuck, gross!

Good thing you found it, some people use poison to kill them and then don't know where the bodies are to throw them out. Then the decay smells horrible and the particles are in the air. It's disgusting.

We're always finding dead mice in our traps but they don't smell very bad.

One of my Roomates in College had a pet rat, It was a hairless rat with Huge Balls his name was Stewie and he lived off beer and crunch berrires but he died one night and we buried him in the Quad

Yes, my cat brought it in that she had killed outside and put it on the foot of my bed! I found her "surprise" and nearly had a heat attack. I cleaned my bedsheets three times.

yeh it was so gross cept in my case it was on some sticky traps and under the sink. omg did it stink
