Makes u more knowledgeable, however during the summer one can loose up to one months worth of knowledge so i guess there is where u can go dumb especially if all u learned in school was a months worth.

school can't do either.
it is an institution that projects studying and learning as a way of becoming smarter and more aware but it doesn't provide much.
after a certain age one should know that if he wants to be considered smart he must read books study and learn as much as possible but to actually be smart is to be able to act on what you have learned and create something out of all that. otherwise you are just a walking library,
and do not forget that there are also the street smarts.
it takes a lot than just school to promote or eliminate your intelligence.

From the looks of it, it sure doesn't make you a good speller.
As for making you smart or stupid, it's what you do with it. If you take it seriously, study, and apply yourself; it will make you smart, you'll go to college, get a degree, and earn tons of cash doing what you love.
On the other hand, if you take it for granted, play around, and make average to barely passing grades, I'll see you at lunch and you can take my order. And yes! I'll have fries with that.
