Yes, he has been one of the few great hitting catchers in the last 50 years. His stats speak for themselves. He was not that great defensively(average at best). He couldn't throw a guy out at second most of the time either. Anyway, he's a good player with some great numbers so he should be a first ballot hall of famer.

MIKE PIAZZA will go into the Hall of Fame on the First Ballot. The guy is the best hitting catcher of all time. Even though he may not be a good defensive catcher, can you deny a man of the Hall of Fame with 420 Homers, 1300 RBI, career .309 batting average, and the most homers for a catcher 396.

Of course. He's the best-hitting catcher in the history of the game.
When he first came up, he was league average defensively, but his skills deteriorated to the point where he became a liability with the Mets. One thing he always did well behind the plate was call a game. He knew his pitchers', and the hitters', strengths and weaknesses.

No question about it. People just can't imagine how being a catcher takes it out of a ball player. What a hitter he is! To have that kind of bat in a lineup from the catcher's spot enhances any team.

Probably not a first ballot inductee... The best thing he has going for him is his career average which is still currently above .300..couple that with his 400 plus career homers and he would probably make it on a weak ballot..

I think he will get elected into the hall of fame. Just because of his hitting stats.... He's a horrible catcher
