No, they don't know how to handle anything except how to kill people. It's second nature to them.

The Middle East problem is far more difficult than it is for you to bash President Bush and his Administration on its handling of the Middle East problem.
This problem did not start when President Bush took office. Presidents have had to deal with these problems since the late 40's and none have done well, some, Jimmy Carter, have done far worse than President Bush.
In some circles it is considered "kool" to bash the administartion and call the President an "Idiot" but these are not real solutions to a long-standing problem in the Middle East.

B.C.
If only the "middle east" problem was as simple as funding...
When you are deprived of any education save indoctrination of hatred, prejudice, and that killing is your only way to heaven... you welcome any opportunity or will use any excuse to do that which you have been taught to do.
Bush is responsible only for his timidity and playing into the hands of the liberal-type personalities fearful that he might exercise some male energy [which they delusionally think is the only reason others hate America]. Individually, even one whose psyche has been badly distorted can be tempted with a nice piece of cake. Collectively, they will overrun your cake table and kill and behead you.
Only a liberal-type personality would not "see" that the real problem is that we are not dealing with reasonable people who respond reasonably. The fanatics pull the crowd, and until and unless the fanatics are dispatched, there is no way to address the needs of the crowd.
If you flew over and dropped millions of dollars on the people they would gather it up at the direction of the fanatic and burn it... because they fear the fanatic more than they desire food.
Let go of your typical liberal-type personality guilt syndrome and try reasoning without self-blame and self-loathing. Try and "see" that other people must "discover" personal responsibility [which the liberal-type personality or fanatic fears]. Unfortunately, the lesson is a hard one for those in the situation... but sooner or later they must "discover" that the fanatic is "crazy" and their continued following of the fanatic is stupid. What is happening is what is required for them to "learn" this lesson. This "story" is as old as history can recall. It also helps to have a good Knowledge of the laws of Karma and how these work.
Peace

I have not been taking an interest in the Palestinian situation, but if you have correctly represented it, they are obviously a few bricks short of a full load.
As to the Rev. Jerry Falwell, you are very unfair. Most of this centers on the Teletubby - gay issue and it was the New York Times or the Washington Post that labeled the purple Teletubby gay first and then other liberals signed on, before Falwell commented.
However, if you want a good laugh at Falwell's exprense, go to www.supreme.justia.com and have a look at the Supreme Court case where he sued Larry Flint and Hustler over a cartoon. He lost. It is an important First Amendment case.

The real question is, does anyone else have any better ideas how to handle it? I hear a lot of complainers and critics, but no real solutions. I think the Middle East is like having a tiger by the tail. All I know is that we have to protect ourselves the best way we know how.

You should apply for the job. It seems like you have a great grasp on what needs to be done to "save" our country from the evil empire known as the Bush Administration. Or maybe you can just advise our do nothing congress. Anyway your point is very well phrased.

No.
And the current Palestinian policy seems to be to feed the West Bank (where Fatah is strongest) and starve the Gaza strip (where Hamas is strongest). Doesn't seem like it is going to work.

This administration has repeatedly shown it has no clue about how global diplomacy and politics work.
That's only one example and as you can see they make absolutely no sense and are very inconsistent.Very wrong and dangerous way to be in International relations.
