The mean(average) distance is 93 million miles. This is also the distance called an A.U. or astronomical unit. It is also approx. 6 light minutes, the sunlight takes almost 6 minutes to reach Terra from Sol.

8 LIGHT MINUTES - 94 million miles. Think about light circuling the world 7 times in a second, and than taking 8 minutes to reach the sun!!!

Now to take it even further, immagine light travelling to the furthest stars, at that speed, 150,000km/second, 15 BILLION YEARS.
