ESPN's First Take just reported that Larry Johnson is so irritated about contract negotiations with theh Chiefs that he went to GM Carl Peterson's office and is now demanding a trade to the Patriots. Peterson has given him permission to orchestrate a trade with the Patriots within a 72-hour window.. What would it take the Patriots to get LJ?? Maroney and Roosevelt Colvin would be a start.. Do you also think the Patriots would be the greatest team in professional sports??

I don't know how serious this question is, but Larry Johnson with the Patriots would be quite a formidable force. That being said, I don't think it will happen. Maroney is a great up and coming RB, and I think the Pats have faith in him to take over where Dillon left off, at least that's how it seems by the contract they offered him. Also, I don't think the Patriots are that worried about not being able to perform this season. With or without LJ, I think they'll do just fine. Which sucks, cause I'm really sick of the Patriots.

LJ is a whiner and an idiot. He wouldnt like it on the Patriots. He cried when the Chiefs didn't use him, what does he think will happen on the Patriots? The Patriots are the ultimate spread the ball team and even a talent like Johnson probably wouldn't reach 1000 yards on that offense. Corey Dillon only reached 1000 yards once in 3 years in NE, after reaching 1000 yards in 6 of 7 seasons with the Bengals. Go cry some more Johnson, you closet racist.

The can't be the greatest team in professional sports because the Pittsburgh Steelers already hold that designation, along with 5 World Championship Vince Lombardi Trophies. How many do the Pats have? 3 Oh thats what I thought.

LJ is not that big an upgrade of Maroney in my opinion but is an upgrade none the less. The thing is the Pats are not going to pay LJ what he wants. You have to want to play for the hoodie and on the Pats terms. I have to think that with them moves they made the Pats are the favorite to represent the AFC in the Superbowl. They will defeat the Saints in this upcoming Superbowl 31-24.

No. Larry Johnson is on the decline and has had criminal subject concerns on suitable of that. If I have been the Patriots i'd save Cassel. they have not have been given any concept if Brady would be back to his previous self. He ought to reinjure his knee in education camp or something; then what would they do without Cassel? The commerce final date isn't until October. so as that they might flow Cassel then if Brady seems to be ok.

I don't know how the Pats could fit that trade under the salary cap, but if that happened, the Patriots would be the greatest team EVER. However, I think they would need to give up Maroney and a couple of first rounders to make it happen.

Even if they don't get LJ, I'm pretty sure tha Pats are going to go 15-1 this season, which would suck, because I hate them.
I hope they don't, because I spent a 1st round pick on Maroney, and that was based on him knowing the system better and having 7 men in the box, no more, even on third and short.
If he goes to KC, ugh.

That said, I think it would take more than Maroney and Colvin for one of the greatest RBs in the game. Maybe them and a 2nd round pick or something.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go turn on ESPN.

Not sure the Pats would want him. They have a decent RB in Maroney and to get LJ would be a huge cap hit for them. Would LJ take less money to play for NE? Then maybe something could be worked out.

Not that I wouldn't like the idea of LJ with the Pats...but the Pats aren't gonna give up any key components...maybe future draft picks, because lets face it, they will be low draft picks from the mighty Pats...The Pats are not giving up their RB of the future, which by the way is now...I'm talking about Lawrence Maroney...They released Corey Dillon, so Maroney is the man now...Also, they just got Adalius Thomas, so Roosevelt Colvin isn't going anywhere...It'll be a deadly combination for offenses...

This is nothing more than a rumor. New England doesn't have the salary cap space to give Larry Johnson the contract he desires. They already have a very promising back in Lawrence Maroney and have him under contract for a very long time.

As a side note, no the Patriots are not the best team in professional sports. They have completely lost their winning formula, finding guys that play well for the team, instead signing every big name free agent they can. I look for this team to be another Washington Redskins. They might be better than the Redskins, but sooner or later those players are going to want to be traded, bigger contracts, disputes, holdouts etc.. and that's going to leave this team in bad management and personnel situation.
