I know things are harder here in USA for blacks, but if your ancestors hadn't been brought here, you'd probably either not be alive or be much worse off in Africa today.
You see how flowers can grow out of manure?
I'm NOT saying this to justify slavery; but I'd like to point out that slavery is still ripe and growing in many parts of the world, like most African women are treated as slaves by their "owners"/ I mean husbands.

P.S.
The Europeans that went to Africa did not teach them their practice of FGM
(female genital mutilation) that happens to 2 million girls a year, many in Africa.
Also, the great cultures there were and are great for MEN, but how about for the females???

Once again there is a theory that if the Trans-Atlantic slave trade had not happened the world would be a better place. You can't really say that you know how Africa would be like if the Europeans hadn't come. Don't you know like in those movies and books when people go back in time and change just one thing the whole future has changed?

And Africans had been to the Americas even before Christopher Columbus.

True statement, well put. I realize that as well, at least you aren't using that fact to justify slavery in the US or tell blacks to "get over it". Not all of us came via the slave trade though. But by no means are we going to thank or even be grateful for those events. We may be here, but thousands perhaps millions of individuals suffered and died and many family bloodlines ceased throughout that time period. Who knows what could have been, Africa could be the world power if not for the past.

You are not the only ignoramus that has said this. Ihave even heard clergy say this.

Life is about choices and people should always have a choice in the course of their lives.

Being forcibly removed and enslaved made this impossible, as well as destroyed our cultural ties, severely hurt our family structure and instilled generational ignorance.

I have LIVED in several African countries...and while they do have problems in some lands, they are not the problems we have and those few that were allowed to live mostly without outside influence, the people are doing quite fine.

It would have been better to leave my ancestors alone and let a gradual emigration to various lands happen.

there was no meeting when we were brought here. not one african stood up and said i volunteer to go to a different continent i know absolutely nothing about and work for somebody i dont know who will more than likely treat me like an animal and work me until i pass the hell out. if we werent brought here we would be most definitely be better off than we are here. you see what happens when people try to take over some **** they dont know anything about. i am 15 and i might not know why things were done the way they were but i know that bigoted remarks like that is the reason that black people are worse off than anyone else. educate yourself before you put your two cent in.

p.s. on the subject of illegal immigration....everybody in this country has ancestors from somewhere and christopher columbus was not here first!!! let it marinate

That was great!! Since I'm from Alabama I get a lot of flack from blacks about injustice and slavery. I had to point out 1 day that slavery was the best thing that ever happened to him because he wouldn't have been here. I'm not prejuduced. If I don't like someone. It has nothing to do with skin color. But I always get that, Its because I'm Black!!!! WRONG. I know a lot of white people I'd like to cap to.

I even heard self-hating Black people say this. Utter nonsense. We had great societies over there....Nubia, Egypt, Dahomey, Timbuktu, Zulu nation. Why should we be glad we were kidnapped an brutalized?

You are pathetic!!!!!!!! Do you have anything to back-up this ridiculous statement? What is your point?

Yes, I belong to my husband and I love him dearly as much, if not more than he loves me. We RESPECT each other to the fullest. Now I don't know where you got your information from, but it is obviously a stupid uneducated opinion..........not a fact!
