It will take a huge movement at the grass roots level to change things in America. The problem is that people don't really realize just how much America has suffered under the current policies. Now, with an election coming up, the outlook for recovery is bleak. There isn't one candidate that offers America what she deserves. It's a shame.

I am. Part of the problem, I think is having just the two valid parties. Part is having the same basic configuration of representation despite a massive U.S. population increase over the last couple centuries. Part is the overwhelming influence of the oil and auto industries and the military industrial complex. All these factors plus others pretty much guarantee that any debate at any level of government (federal, state or local) will be beside the point. For examples check out the movie "Who killed the electric car?" We could have all been driving electric cars long ago. The oil and auto industries simply won't let us. As for what Americans should do, I'm afraid about all we can do is play a waiting game. Things aren't bad enough for enough people to warrent a full scale revolution and those don't always turn out so well anyway. Personally, I'm starting to pull for global warming (climate change if you prefer) to drive home the point that sooner or later ecology will trump economy.

Yep, very. But just look at the answers on here. It looks like the elected officials are doing what the people want. Both sides defending their views with no compromise. None of us can expect to get our way on everything. And I don't think most people actually vote party lines. We had Reagan for 8 years, then Clinton , and now Bush. Were the Republicans that sick of Reagan's Republican ideals that they voted in Clinton? Don't think so. Obviously they thought Bill was the best man for the job. Then back to Bush the next two times around. A lot of Democrats had to vote for him also. Well, kind of, in one election. Anyway, a lot of people seem to change party affiliation based on the person which tells me only the hardcore radicals from each side stick with the party.

Both Dems and Reps are totally co-opted by the big corporate interests...register Independent, vote Green or Libertarian, or whatever. When somebody like rich-guy Bloomburg jumps ship on the Republican party, and when approval rating for Congress is at 14%, you know there's something in the wind. All the potential candidates now thrashing about for their party's nomination are pretty disgusting...and obvious.

Amen! I am tired of all the bickering! However,if a Democrat gets elected they should be prepared to face the same words they have been using against Republicans the last 8 years.

They both have thier good and thier bad. The bigger problem I have is with the voters who just see Rep. and Dem. and just stick straight to thier party lines and do not look at both sides.
Blindly voting down your party just because you dont like the other party is the problem we have here. A lot of Rep. wont listen to a word a Dem. is saying and vice versa. Just because someone is in your party does not make them the best choice.

I am. But you are incorrect. they are not elected to represent the wishes of the majority. They are elected to represent all. Sometimes to do the right thing you may not go along with what the majority opinion is.

Im tired of the two parties spending all their energy to bash each other instead of working together to solve problems. As long as they can keep the American public arguing with each other, nobody will notice that they are able to accomplish absolutely zero.

Yup, tired of them both. I have avoided the idea of term limits but am starting to think it has to be done. Get rid of these career politicians.

I am tired of them all. We need to either find a way to make the current ones more accoutable, or we need a non-political third party.
