A radical is an expression that has been raised to a fractional power.
The square root of x is the same as x raised to the 1/2. On your keyboard you could represent the square root of x as x^(1/2) where the tophat or carrot indicates "raised to."

which you won't be able to have a sq. root of a damaging quantity (except you're analyzing imaginary numbers). for example, in case you had the equation: root(x+5), and you have been attempting to discover x, you may understand that it won't be able to be something decrease than -5, because of the fact then the equation might equivalent root(-something), and that's unsolvable.
