Fish float to the top when dead, but if left too long (maybe even a day), the fish will become waterlogged and sink again. Stick your hand in there and try to pick him up. Try sifting through your gravel, go through the entire tank and swish the gravel through your fingers to release all the trapped gasses. Find the killer hiding spot and move it to a different part of the tank. Are these Feeder Goldfish or Fancy Goldfish? If you don't already vacuum the gravel, start now!

As an earlier poster mentioned, 10 gallons is inadequate for goldfish. Goldfish are a kind of carp. They get very big, and they can live 20 years, if kept properly. They are also extremely DIRTY fish, and 10 gallons is just not enough water to keep sanitary unless you want to do water changes a couple times a week.
Speaking of water changes, have you kept up with testing and cleaning your water, to make sure the parameters are OK? If not, that is probably the problem. You should do a water change right away, and then do mini-changes every day for awhile until your tank is balanced.
Also, as another poster said, if it's a new tank, that's your problem. Tanks go through a cycle, where wastes build up, the water gets VERY toxic, then some helpful bacteria establish colonies to eat the waste (and for a while that causes its own problems), then finally the tank will achieve a healthy balance. Any fish that have to live in the tank while all that is going on are going to be seriously harmed, often killed. You may know this, but it's hard to tell from your post, so I'm going to put this out there, if not for you then for others who might be just starting out.
Below is a great site where you can learn about all the things you need to know about the hobby, and DISCUSS your questions with experienced aquarists who may be better able to help you diagnose your problem.

A 10 gallon is suitable to hold one goldfish and no more. Healthy goldfish never hide. The fish is likely hiding due to too much ammonia and nitrite in the water from over stocking. Simply put there is too much bio load for that small tank to handle. So opt for one pretty goldfish or if you want more try getting a fish that never grows more than an inch or two. Small tanks shoud house small fishes. That is fishes that remain small at their adult size. An adult goldfish will not have enough room in that tank.
For now CHANGE YOUR WATER! Goldfish need massive frequent water changes. Change 75% of your water weekly or 50% twice a week. I think you are massively overstocked.

First of all. A 10gal tank is not big enough for goldfish. ALL goldfish get to be about 8in.
There is a lot of things that could have happened, here are a few.
Stress- if you did not give them time to get use to the water goldfish stress very easy
you water is not balanced. If the temp is too high or too low, or if the PH is off, or if ammonia is in the tank
Do a water change(never take out all the water, take out about 30% because there is a problem)
Are you using a water declor? because that would kill the fish too if there is still harmful things in the water

let me start with your tank... have you cycled it? checked its water condition? have you acclimated the fish before putting it in? maturity of the tank should be assessed prior to adding the fish. secondly it is a common term for persons to say that after the fish dies, it floats. yes, usually it does, but some doesn't. it will take time for other fishes to float when it die. we must consider on what conditions have caused the death of the fish prior to judging that if it dies, it floats. third, ten gallon tanks are usually small for gold fishes., yes they can live there but should not be a permanent house. goldfishes have a range nowadays in reaching 20-25 years. but due to inapprorpiate care given, some die in less than a year. fourth, if your fish is not yet dead, assess your fish for any diseases. then treatment should be done ASAP
enjoy and good luck

is it a new tank? new tanks tend to do that if ya just added water and a filter and thought it was all good, theres a start right solution you can add, but that doesn't always work either...the tank needs to be cycled...sacrifice a few goldfish..Don't clean the walls just yet, ya need a lil slime buildup for starters...then get a few and see how they do..they make it 2 weeks, ya can start playing around with other types...Gouramis and tetras are pretty hearty fish...be careful of too many too soon also

it ought to be new tank sydrome the place all they do is cover and want to return out at night. supply them some days to a week. Goldfish want to be with friends of three or greater however the concern is they get large vast and massive messy. they are able to stay for an exceedingly long term. (the comet that lived in my pond grew to become into 15 years and the flamboyant goldfish in considered one of my father's very large tanks that presently died grew to become into around earlier i grew to become into born, 25 years a minimum of). so which you will might desire to enhance as quickly because it hits the three inch mark reason they are going to proceed to grow and you would be wanting a heavy accountability filter out and tank to preserve it and the obtainable friends. Did you cycle the tank? Ammonia and nitrites can relatively influence the habit of fish. human beings have confidence they're the main begginner-ish fish as their grandparents from previously then stored goldfish in a bowl for a month, cried over it, and then buried it to teach infants accountability a minimum of that's what my grandpa used to tell me XD sturdy success.
