I bought stuff all throughout my pregnancy, whenever I found good clearance sales or nice items at yard sales.
I waited on buying outfits, though, because I didn't know the sex or size of the baby. So most of what I was buying was diapers, nursery items, onesies, washclothes, supplies and other basic items as they came on sale.
If the price is right, I grab it!

I didn't buy a thing until I was about 5 months pregnant and then I only bought the basics until she was born just in case of stillbirth I would have hated to go home to a house full of baby stuff and no baby! Everything was kept in a room out of the way for the same reason.
I had to give away some of the clothes I had bought because they were too small even from birth!

When I felt ready too, for me it was 16 weeks into it. Dont worry so much, buy a few little white things, its good for boys or girls.
It helps u to accept the reality of what is about to happen this never really happens til the babe is in ur arms, but there is no harm in beginning your attachment and bond with ur baby anytime in ur pregnancy. Clearly you are worried about losing your baby, if this happend you would be devastated regardless of if you bought an outfit or blanket or two, should this happen it would be nice to have something to hold on to.
Honestly dont worry so much, those little things are parasites whose strength to survive takes over your own, did you know that starving african women in famines still majority of pregnancies produce healthy good size babies, and unless they really and I mean really are not meant to be then they will be just fine. The main thing is that you accept that this is a perfect thing, all is as it is supposed to be no matter what the timing might seem like, you will look back with awe at your life before, and wonder how you survived without the love you will have in your life when your child is born.
Best of Luck, love and light Alison.

Well I'm just under 15 weeks & have bought a few things, mainly clothes. Everything I've bought has been in neutral colours, and its been babygro's & stuff, in a few different sizes. Once I know what sex it is I will probably start buying more clothes!
We are planning on getting a few things a month from now on so it doesn't seem so expensive, although our families have been very generous & offered to get the larger things for us as presents. My boyfriends granddad has already bought us a highchair & a pushchair!
It's very tempting to go out & buy loads of stuff, but then I would have to store it all until December.

Im 8 weeks with my second pregnancy (1st pregnancy I miscarried at 14 weeks), and I have already started buying the "expensive" stuff... diapers, formula... that kind of stuff. Im not going to buy a WHOLE bunch until after my baby showers (I have 5 planned for me already)... but I know my stepmom and mother-in-law have already started picking up stuff at yard sales and such. Lol... It made me laugh though because my mother-in-law told me she got a crib set, but that it was animal print... she felt so bad after she bought it, saying "what if you have a girl? will this just collect dust?" lol... she almost started crying...made me laugh though. Im getting alot of hand-me-downs though... which will be wonders because kids grow fast and things are expensive now a days. Best of luck! And why not start looking around? If you see something you like, buy it.

Once I found out the gender. I already had a boy, and when I was pregnant with him I bought a crib when I was about 4 months pregnant. The rest of the stuff, I shopped around at thrift stores and yard sales for the rest of my pregnancy until I had eveything I needed. This pregnancy, I waited until the 5th month, then when they told me I was having a girl, I started gathering girls clothes and am still working on decorating her room (I'm about 8 months now). I'm going the cheap route, painting and decorating myself, so it's taking time, lol.

I still haven't bought anything because I have a second baby shower this weekend. No sense in wasting money on things that I may get as a gift instead! After it's all done I'll go over everything I have, decide on what they still need, and buy it then.

I just found out that I'm pregnant yesterday and I already want to start shopping (I probably will this weekend, lol).
With my son, I started shopping for him when I was about 2 months pregnant (but most of it was after I knew the sex of the baby).
