I'm not looking to move, I love it here but I always thought that Ireland might be a nice place to live.

Anna why don't you ask how many people would like to come to the US and see how many responses you get that are positive.

Frankly there isn't a country that I would want to move to. I'd like to visit several, but give up my US citizenship to move there permenantly? NO WAY! Where do you think would be better? France? They obviously can't handle immigrants well? Germany? Ditto. Europe in general has too high taxes to suit me.

If what you say is true the US is so totally dislked by other nations why do we have 12 MILLION people who risked coming here illegally knowing they could be sent back any day? Why do we have I don't know how many millions who have green cards that have applied for citizenship?

And it's not just people from Mexico and Central America that are coming. People from every country are wanting to come here.

People from other countries may dislike what the current administration are doing. But they don't dislike the people or the country. I've traveled a great deal and haven't had any problems.

IT's a hard choice. I like some things about both places. I do wish sometimes that I had been born and raised in Europe, but to be a minority in Europe is no bed of roses, as it's not here either, but there are lots of minorities here in the USA, and I don't think Europeans are fair saying,
"There's so much racism in USA" Maybe that's because we have so many different races here. I'd like to see how Europe would deal with it if some big hand plopped a 3rd world nation in the middle of Europe.

About all nations hating USA, that's an exaggeration, but over half of us are not happy with the direction this country is going with Bush, either. WE don't hate the whole country, but are somewhat embarrassed.
As for moving to Europe: only if I'm rich. And I wouldn't just move anywhere. Some places are quite provincial, and I wouldn't be welcomed with open arms as an American.
The USA is a good place to study and work if you have a head start, but if you're dirt-poor it's not a good situation, and Europe might be better. If you make a lot of money in Europe, your taxes are astronomical, so super rich do better here.
I love the beauty, history, and relative safety in /Europe, but let's see how France, Britain and Holland deal with the growing Muslim populations that don't like their liberal ideas and don't assimilate in the culture.
Another thought: if Iran (for example) were to attack Europe, we'd be there to help you, but it probably wouldn't be appreciated.
I'd like to move to (maybe) Costa Rica, actually, when I get older, because the USA is brutal for the elderly, and I can probably retire more comfortably there. Europe is a little too cold for old bones.

Not because other nations "dislike us". But I have view the national mindset of people from TV, radio, subway talking, over-hearing conversations on campuses and it makes me wonder.
Europe is moving more secular while there is a growning "religious" backing in the US. For a country which was built to both separate church and state as well as protect the rights of all religions to worship in peace they are not going down a path to continue this.
Dont get me wrong, I was born here, love my country and really couldnt imagine living anywhere else. But if it were to come to the point where my future childern could be taunted for their non-main stream belief system and certain rights taken away b/c mainstream christain "moral" deem them "immoral". Then I wouldnt want to live here.
It wouldnt be the "land of the free" anymore.

I have lived in Europe. I don't want to go back. The country that's " totally disliked by all other nations " has the problem of keeping millions of those haters out. Do you see a problem in your thinking ? You're suggesting leaving the country, while people from so many other countries are doing all they can to get in. Very strange.

We are FREE to move to other countries and anywhere within our own country at our own will. And if one were inclined to leave, then 100 people or more would be trying to take their place.
Why is this???? Because the USA is the land that people want to go to, to be a part of.
You can criticize us, belittle us and whatever but you can not change the facts.
And if we are so "disliked" then why do the people of the world poor into our country?
So please, go peddle your peanuts somewhere else.

Well, you are not me. And ask the people in Kuwait if they hate us. Besides I wouldn't live in a country that doesn't like the US but will yell for help from us the minute they experience trouble. I think that is just a bit hypocritical.
