You will have to sign an indemnity clause if you have no cert, this will cover any damage that happens to the patio door if it has been fitted incorrectly. Ive just had to sign a similar thing, costs 80 quid.

Okay, granted that I don't know what a fensa certificate is, but if you've already finished the re-finance, here's what you do.

Tell the solicitor that you can't get one, and why. Ask them what other options that leaves. If they insist that this is the only option, tell them again that it isn't possible, and ask them what happens next. There are several possibilities:
1. they may ask you to accept personal responsibility for whatever event the fensa protects them from.
2. they may realize that the transaction being complete, they are stuck.
3. they may have a tiny clause in the contract that allows them to accelerate the loan if you don't get the certificate, in which case, you hire the company and pay what you have to for it.

Get it refitted, they are quite right not to give you a certificate. You are asking them to commit fraud.
