You can achieve this if it's a newer printer with bluetooth or infrared but not many printers have this function. A more ready way to do this is to buy a wireless print server an attach it to your printer and you can print from anywhere within wireless range. Here is a good netgear wireless print server.

The best way to do this without getting into all that bluetooth and infrared mess is to simply use a wireless print server. It's a little device that you plug you printer into via USB as well as a wall jack for power, once configured for your wireless network it will be available to use by anyone on the network. Also, I know that HP makes a line of printers that have stand alone 802.11b wireless connectivity, you just plug it into your laptop via USB once to configure it for your network and then it will be available for wireless printing.

If you also have a desktop on the same network, you can attach the printer to the desktop and from the desktop turn on printer sharing (under the properties for the printer). You should then be able to see that printer and print to it without being attached to it.
The print job actually gets sent to the desktop, and is printed from there automatically. A person using the desktop does not have to do anything to make it print, nor do they notice anything when it does. But, the desktop does have to be turned on for it to work.

If there is another computer in your network which is connected to your printer and if your laptop is part of the wire[less] network that that computer is connected to then you should be able to. As long as its set to printer sharing.[On your laptop] You can check by clicking on Start, then go to My Network Places [If it is not there go to My Computer, on the left there is a a bar - under Other Places click on My Network Places], click on the name of the other networked computer and check if it is displaying a shared printer.
Now, if you don't have a separate networked computer then you can just get a wireless printer if it matters much to you.

Well there is a way ...either with bluetooth or if ur pc supports it get a wireless router with usb ports. Connect the printer via usb with the router wich is conected to ur pc via WLAN, ur pc should recognize the printer . Asus might produce that kind of routers (i have an asus wireless router, but i connect my webcam to it so that i can surveillance my house while im gone ).
