i just saw the headline that the girls were in the pool making noise and then charges were filed...Absolutely ridiculous!!!!! What happened to asking the girls to keep it down, or asking the parents, or isn't there a noise ordinance that alows the girls the daytime hours to play and at night hold the noise? I don't get either girl!

I agree it is ridiculous. When I walk by the apartment and hear the kids screaming and having fun. I think about not being able to be with my kids and feel a little sad.
The kids are going to be gone before those neighbors know it. That silence won't be golden but empty.
Let kids be kids having fun during the summer.
So what if they are little loud.
Trust me there are many out there who do anything to have that noise problem.

I think that is sooo stupid! For God sakes its just kids having fun now that school is out. As long as there are in their own yard and not doing it at 3 o'clock in the morning then I dont see the problem. All summer no matter where these numbers go there is going to be a bunch of kids being loud... whether stay home, go to the store, a gas station, the beach, the mall, etc...
If you ask me its horrible and stupid that it even went to court. These neighbors need to grow up!

Without knowing the degree of noise being made...it's hard to form an opinion.
A couple of thoughts do come to mind! First, when minors are involved the parents may be held liable for the childrens actions. Second, have you heard some kids with their loud music blaring to a point where two blocks over you can feel the "thump bumping" of their stereo in the seat of your pants?
Best wishes!

If it's not super early in the morning or very late at night, people have a right to use their own property to do whatever noise-making activities they want to do. There are some laws on the books dealing with loud noises, but those laws are intended for machinery or overly loud stereo noise - not children playing.
Somebody needs to just CHILL OUT!

About as stupid as the judge suing over the pants; but this one might at least have a legal noise ordinance basis.
Why do things get this far? Polite neighbor asks parent to have children play a little more quietly as they are disturbed by the noise

If we are talking about the "backyard pool" noise complaint. There was not one neighbor, but 5 neighbors who filed a complaint. Parents have the responsibility to keep their children -reasonably- quiet. For 5 neighbors to complain, it obviously was a very loud.

Without all the facts - I mean ALL, there is no way of making an assessment. It can go either way - the children are very unruly and bang on the walls, scream and make alot of noise or the neighbours are some really tight *** who just can't stand hearing children at all. No way of knowing

well as a general rule, thats a ridiculous claim and charge, but there are always exceptions, and this just might be one. maybe and apt with kids who just love to bang on the walls with random objects at three in the morning.
