Its the size of the stone its about 4.1 mm from one side of the stone to the other

I'm kinda materialistic and I love jewelry so I like 2 carats or more. My fiance was in a position where he could afford more than 2 carats. If he wasn't I would have been happy with anything he gave me because I lvoe him. But 2 carats or more are expensive so don't stress on getting something big. If she loves you she will love anything she gets from you. Get what you can afford for now and in a few years after your married for like your 5th or 10 anniversary get her something a little bigger.
What you can afford is typically based on 2 months salary. You can always finance it and pay it off as soon as you can. Just don't get in over your head because you want to get her something you cant afford.

It means just that, a fourth of a carat. 1 carat is thought to be the jumping off point as far as diamonds go, anything less than that, I mean it's okay if that's all you can afford, but 1/4 or a fourth, is fairly small. Think of a pie or a pizza. Cut into four halves, a fourth of that is just one triangle of that pie. You understand? Addition: what women prefer is dependent on that woman. Some women have bigger or smaller hands/fingers, so for a woman with bigger hands, 1/4 would look even smaller. But likewise, a woman with small hands, 1 carat would probably be a bit too much. It also depends on what she's like....is she flashy? Or laid back and not really into material things? What type of jewelry does she wear now? Lots of rings, or no rings at all? The key is to get what SHE likes, not what "women prefer". Good luck and congrats.

Diamond Size

2007-06-22 02:11:11 · answer #3 · answered by movu101779 3 · 0 0

The carat weight measures the mass of a diamond. One carat is defined as 200 milligrams (about 0.007 ounce avoirdupois). The point unit—equal to one one-hundredth of a carat (0.01 carat, or 2 mg)—is commonly used for diamonds of less than one carat. All else being equal, the value of a diamond increases exponentially in relation to carat weight, since larger diamonds are both rarer and more desirable for use as gemstones.

The price per carat does not increase smoothly with increasing size. Instead, there are sharp jumps around milestone carat weights, as demand is much higher for diamonds weighing just more than a milestone than for those weighing just less. As an example, a 0.95 carat diamond may have a significantly lower price per carat than a comparable 1.05 carat diamond, because of differences in demand.

you can look for diamonds at bluenile.com

Also I would say 1 ct is a good size. However this is all determined based on your lifestyle and what you can afford.

That is the size of the diamond. go to diamonds.com and click on education to learn about the four (4) "c's" of a diamond. Then you can make an informed decision before you fork over the cash.

p.s i don't mean to sound solicitious for that website I just know that you can learn some stuff on there.

a quarter of a karrot? 1/4 of a full 1 size diamond.
Its a nice size so long as the quality and setting is good.
