Hello
I recently knew a new Tools of Windwos which is called NTP(Network Time Protocol) Server. But I am not getting its details that What is the job of this NTP Server in Local Area Network. I have installed it in windowXP but nothing know about it.
Please tell me if you have any Idea about it.

All it does is dole out time, assuming accuracy at the source the transmitted time should be a good reference itself to sync up.

In Star Trek: The Next Gen, Enterprise once got dragged in some kind of time loop and lost its clock, at the end of that episode when ship got out Picard ordered his crewman to "communicate and get the time with a nearby timing beacon" that is a futuristic version of sync up with an NTP server.
