Refrigerator magnets are the best souvenir because there are so many different kind. You can sometimes get them for each place you visit, like Westminster Abby, the Palace, Big Ben, etc. and they can bring multiple ones for not too much money. And finally, they don't take up space in luggage and rarely if ever break and never malfunction.
Magnets are my personal souvenir of choice; get one everywhere we travel.

I went last summer and I think my favorite souvenirs are my coffee mugs. We got them at the National Gallery, Harrods, Abbey Road, etc. They do have the whole breakage hazard, but I just rolled them in my clothes and they got back just fine. Also maybe some English tea or candies.
