The whole point of modeling clay is that your possibilities are practically endless. Anything can be formed from this pliable material; from animals, landscapes, and vehicles to plates of food, abstract sculptures and jewelery.
Here is a website to give you a few ideas...

It would probably be good to say what *type* of clay you have.
You said "modeling clay" which is generally the type of heavy, colored clay that never hardens and is used by kids, but modeling clay could also be one of many types of air-dry clay (including mud-ceramic clay), epoxy putty clay, or polymer clay, etc.
And how much is a "big block"?

P.S. If it's polymer clay you have, check out this link:

Make something nice for someone you care about. If the clay is the right consistency you can use cake decorating stuff, bag and tip for making flowers and ribbon thingies.

Make your own personalized stepping stones for outside. take a hunk on a nice flat surface & smoosh or roll out to about 1 1/2 inches thick. you can take carving tools & carve out whatever intricate design you'd like, & embellish it with beads, marbles, coins, broken glass or china bits (like a mosaic)...whatever your heart desires.
You'll have to treat them with a clear, weatherproof spray laquer but it will hold up for the summer & then bring them in for the winter. I've done this, it's pretty rewarding to see the results!
