Unlike Cincinnati, Cleveland has many things to do if your planning for an extended stay.
Day 1: Visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame located downtown
Spend a good amount of time here, on some days bands around the whole country come here to perform everyday! People from Johnny Cash to Elvis have many guitars, records, photos, etc. Great museum to bring your own childhood back!
Day 2: The Great Lakes Science Center
This place has many neat things that you can do from being the weather man on a simulated screen to feeling like your on a roller coaster in the imax theatre. This is an all day event and your constantly at stations doing exciting and how did you do that things.
Day 3: A trip on the Good Time 3 & A night at the ball park
The Good Time 3 is a long casual boat ride that can last (depending on how much you pay) from 1-3 hours taking a tour through out the Cuyahoga River that runs through downtown and ends up touring the shore of Lake Erie
Jacobs Field, home of the indians is a 12 year old ball park in very new shape where you can see an mlb game as low as 6-8 dollars per ticket at the bleachers.
Day 4: Lolley the Trolley and The West Side Market
Lolley the Trolley is a 2 hour trolley ride which gives you an incredible background of the city of Cleveland, history, local attractions, and a scenory ride of monuments and historical sites you see in and around downtown cleveland. The drivers are always friendly and have all your questions answered when you leave.
The West Side Market is the only trading place in Cleveland where you can get all your freshed goods all lined up at merchant stalls, and the best food you can eat downtown from the venders. The old market dated back to 1912, is the best rated attraction in Cleveland with everything it has pleased customers with.
Day 5: The Cleveland Zoo
Anyone thinks a zoo is a zoo, but personally, i think the cleveland zoo is way different. Especially made for teens & kids, the rainforest in the Cleveland Zoo is A MUST SEE! Along with the Australian Outback in the zoo, the rainforest is a large indoor tropical paradise dome featuring many exotic animals along with kids favorites like porcipines, tigers, and their famous chimps. Last time i was there, i got to pet a parrot! The zoo itself is also great! Recommend the Australian Outback with the kids play area in it!
Day 6: Geauga Lake
Geauga Lake is an amusement park in which it shares some similarities and some differences to Cedar Point. First off, Geauga Lake has cheaper admission than Cedar Point does. Second, less people go there. Third, with a few less rides, fewer demon drop coasters, it has a better feel for a kid along with just as many if not more rides for kids in the park.
Day 7: The Nautica Queen
Relax for your final day at Cleveland and celebrate your vacation with a fabulous dinner on The Nautica! A cruise ship that goes through downtown on the river, and settles out for a journey on the coast of Lake Erie, The Nautica has excellent food, music, and fun! A must dinner if you want one of your meals to feel extravegent on vacation!
1 Event If Your Going In July!
If your going in July, make sure you go see "Tall Ships" at harbor fest on the docs downtown at the Marina in Cleveland.
Around 8-10 real looking dutchmen/pirate ships come into the harbor where you can board the ships, theres a kids park, one ship fires cannon balls, free prizes, and if you wait in an extremely long line, a ship takes you out to sea and back! Most fun for an event in Cleveland all year long!
Hope this info was helpful!

Richie R took my answer, but I can add the Good Time 3! My grandparents used to take me on the GT2 when I was a child and it is a fun boat ride for all ages. I believe the GT3 is on Lake Erie, not in the river, I'm not sure. Also I think he left out University Circle: the Art Museum, Natural History Museum, the Botanical Gardens & the Childrens Musuem ~ there are a lot of kid friendly things to do there. But as far as things to see in Ohio that is not expensive, you could check out Amish Coutry, or the Indian Mounds. PA has Hersey factories, I know that is a place you can take the kids (unless their alergic to chocolate) I think the King Tut exhibit is at the Philly muesum of art this July. Its a little bit of a drive, but if you're willing to go to PA then why not check out Nigara Falls and Canada? Good luck and have fun.

LoL Brother Percival. Also it was Elisha who was bald, not Elijah. I'm sure. Great yarn though, people should be less judgemental and more accepting i believe. Fishing, as surely that is a good Christian event to take part in. Preparing the fish from water, pan and plate. So everyone appreciates the effort the fishermen of the gospel went through and such.

When I was a kid, I remeber going to a place in Wisconsin called "House on the Rock". It made quite an impression on me that I will never forget. Kinda like walking into a bizarre dream that goes on and on and never ends. Check it out!
