As the mother of a 13 year old girl, I understand your worry. Personally, I would worry about the cleavage more. Midriffs don't seem as personal of a space as cleavage does, if that makes sense. Bottom line though - you're the parent with the ultimate decision making authority on clothing. If you're not comfortable with how much skin they're showing, regardless of where that skin is, either don't buy it for them or if they already have it, make them change. Save those outfits for days at the beach or backyard if you don't want to get rid of them. Be open to their ideas and flexible enough to say 'no i don't like it, but it's not inappropriate so yes you can wear it' or 'no it's too revealing and you're not wearing it'. Personally, I would be asking them WHY they want to show too much skin and explain why it's inappropriate if in fact it is and let them know what kind of message they're sending with it. I tell my daughter that if she would be comfortable with the preacher, or her grandpa, or a teacher, whatever, seeing her dressed the way she is, then chances are it's fine. If she would be embarrassed or feel like covering up, it's most likely inappropriate.

I have 2 daughters too, my eldest is 10. I hate her wearing short skirts and showing off her midriff. I tell her what to wear at present and make sure she is dressed appropriate. I think once she gets older though I can't say anything, and I'd prefere her to show a bit of cleavage rather than her midriff. I think a little bit of cleavage is ok as long as its not the bare midriff and cleavage together then it looks too much!!

I would be worried about the 12 year old. Middle Schoolers now act like high schoolers did in my day. Plus, she's setting the standards for the other 2 younger ones. I also would worry when they started doing it to be a sexpot versus just following fashion. But, I notice in all the catalogs and ads, that all stores sell this stuff to pre-teens. I think it is kind of sad.

bare midriff because if you let them go that way then your letting them put out the wrong message about themselves. lets say your trying to get your daughters healthy and you can't decide between a cone and an apple which would you choose them to have.cone boobs aren't even hot they're tacky and wrong. its o.k. to have something but midriff is too much.

Okay well who is the parent here ? Get some control over those girls and tell them no when they wear that kind of clothing . It is unacceptable to you . For god's sake they are only 9,11 and 12. You need to step up to the plate and let them know who is boss in the house . good luck .

All. Modesty is the key unless at the pool or the beach. I believe in the bare arms covered legs, bare legs covered arms theory and maybe in children this young full body suits, Just kidding.

Who exactly is buying their clothing? They can't wear revealing clothing if an adult isn't buying it. If they are buying it with allowance money or whatever, you are still the one in charge of what they wear until they are adults. If the trampy clothing is in their closet, it's your responsibility as a parent to cut it up and put in in the trash.
Girls don't need to look trashy to be attractive and have self esteem.

i'd be more worried about cleavage..but most likely youre a decent parent and didnt raise a bunch of hoochies so theyre probably just wearing whats in style. dont want to be overbearing.. and make them dress like amish because they might just try to rebel. good luck man.

Change your religion and make them wear burkhas. I am so glad I had sons! I would have been a total prick about my daughters. Good luck with that one friend, you know what they say about letting the genii out of the bottle.
