Try this Freakonomics trick for traditional names that are not overly trendy. Google the Social Security list for the 1000 most popular names for this decade and then choose from below the top 25.

How about Austin, Thomas, Gavin, and Mark for boys, or perhaps Julia, Katherine, Rebbecca, or Evelyn for girls? All of these easily make the top 100, but they're not trendy enough to fall into the cutesy or dated category. You might then pair it with a family member's given name as a middle name or else use your maiden name as the middle name.

Boys:
Keegan: I love this name and think it is very strong-sounding. When I think of a person named Keegan, I think of someone who is willing to fight for what they believe.

Jackson: Not only is this name adorable but Jackson sounds like a person who is intelligent and has a bright future.

Preston: This name reminds me of an intelligent athlete. It sounds "full" and "respected"

Konnor: Any names that start with K just make them seem so powerful. Especially Konnor.

Girls:

Peyton: This name doesn't sound like a prissy little girl. It sounds like a girl who is outgoing and likes to have fun.

Isabelle: Notice that this name doesn't have an A at the end. (Isabella) It sounds much more strong and complete.

Alexis: Again, there is no A at the end. (Alexa.) Also, this name has an x in it. Its funny how one letter can change a whole name.

Ashton: The word "Ash" in it makes it sound rustic and adventorous.

Hope I helped!

biblical names are a place to look for strong and traditional names.
Boys include Adam, Jacob, Joseph, Isaac (that's not quite as popular), Jonathan, David, Mark, Paul, Peter, Michael.
For girls -- Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, Leah, Hannah, Abigail, Tamar -- can't think of any more right this minute but, I really like those for starters.
