I want to transfer my child into an out of district school. The neighborhood school has a lot of fights there and I don't want my child to be subjected to that type of violence. I know there is no guarantee that this will not happen at another school I just want to cut down the chances. I have the application to transfer her but don't know what to say. I can't just say I don't like the home school ( which would be the truth ) because they would deny the transfer. What could I say to insure her transfer?

Try this, instead of using negatives about the neighborhood school, use positive statements about the other school you prefer. For example, "Due to my child's shorter attention span, I feel she would benefit a great deal from the smaller class sizes at ....School." Or, "my child has a strong aptitude and interest in history/Spanish/English(/whatever applies) and I want her to experience the excellent history/Spanish/English/whatever teachers at ....School." If you think about it carefully, there is something positive about your school of choice that would benefit your child, and you will be more successful at insuring the transfer if you find something positive and solid to say about the new school. I'm good at writing this sort of letter. Email me some details if you want to and I will help you compose your request.

This is only two suggestions I can think of....

Try to explain the situation to the district but if you don't find that a good idea then make up an excuse....

P.S. Sorry about not really helping...
