What is the use of this apparatus: set of weights,dynamic cart,a wooden block and aluminum cylinder in physics?

I think you are trying to determine coefficient of friction.

Is it pure aluminum or an alloy?
Aluminum cylinder makes a good roller. Wooden block is a nice dead weight to place on a dynamic cart, and the weights, the weights... Darn, we if we only has a block and tackle and a rope. Then we could demonstrate at least first and second law of mechanics. Now you made Issac Newton very upset...
