Write to them explaining that you did this work on the impression that you would be paid for it. If nothing was put in writing and no agreement made then legally I don't think there's anything you can do.
Its between you and the company to get the money back

The amount may be small, but you need it more than they do and I do not see why crooks like that should be allowed to cheat the weakest people in society.
Write them a letter outlining the events as you wrote them so well here.
Attach an invoice (typed if possible) for the amount they promised or you consider reasonable, plus any other costs you had and say if you do not receive the money within 7 days you will take legal action and inform the local newspaper to warn other future applicants.
If you do not receive the money, go ahead and sue as you told them.

Write them a letter requested the money in 7 days and threaten to take them to a small claims court. To be honest for 5 hours work I don't think I would bother as I'd just count it as an extended interview.
Sorry to be a stickler but its paid not payed.

I would suggest you write to them an official letter. Make sure that you state in it that if you don't recieve your money in say 7days, you will have to take them to legal action. wait for them to answer and if you don't get a reply from them in 7days, you can either go to citizens advice bureau or you can go to a small claims court and file a claim. Good luck

Have you tried the better business bureau, and have you tried the wage claims office in your State offices. Look in the blue pages of the phone directory.

Threaten legal action! Or you could make out that you will go to press about what a rubbish company they are.
