I'm guessing most of the time it's not to make the car perform better, it's just to make it noisy? I've seen Geo Metro's with them for Pete's sake! Am I just out of touch?

Because they think it's a performance modification, it's really only a noise modification...and it's about stupid. The only way to make the car faster with exhaust, is to run a straight pipe off the engine with no bends or muffler...because it allows the engine to exhaust more which makes it breathe more to renew the pressure of air. Anyways, they are stupid and only stupid people would waste their money on them. Usually kids, stupid kids who think they are fast.

Honestly people there just confused and cheap. If they were to buy a name brand muffler they could have a sporty sound without it being annoying. But they buy this peace of crap from eBay for like 10$ that sounds like crap and that's what happens. There confused because they think that exhaust makes your car faster it doesn't. Unless you have a turbo or supercharger there's no need to have a huge muffler sticking out a little Geo.

ME ME ME I have loud mouth #1 exhaust made by SLP on my 400+ horsepower 2006 Pontiac GTO and the 8 cyls sing a tune like "The Ride Of The Valkyrie's" Timpany drums of the heavens under bridges. You just have to be there. AS for Honda Civics, Geo Metro how could any one like a car that sounds like a weed eater

kinda out of touch...its just a style that will fade out after a while and something new will come along...mostly this is for attention, for some it is performance driven...or just the idea that the noisy thing on their car is doing something positive
