A recent Newsweek/Gallup poll show's Bush's Job Approval rating is now 26% which is lower than Carters lowest (28%) and fast approaching Nixons (23%). No wonder conservatives are running away from him. Oh no, forget it, they're not running AWAY from Bush, they're running TOWARDS the future, right?

It's great, when information about Bushie is negative, conservative lemmings blow it off. Dean nailed you people in his book, "Conservatives Without Concience".

Thorgirl - 28% is the lowest Carter had. At least he tried something. Yes it failed, I remember it well, but at least he tried something.

I believe the numbers are in the low 30's. 25% is more like the Congress and new Democratic House/Senate rating. Less than Bush. The future is dim if we can not work together towards the good of the people. Political agenda and gain is stalling important bills and the work needed to be done. All those Presidential candidates should be forced out of their seats due to conflict of interest. No longer serving constituents but serving themselves. Look there as u search for approval/disapproval ratings. It goes both ways. If the President fails these folks have failed at their jobs just as well. Thank you.

Republicans are abandoning President Bush, why? The Immigration Bill he is pushing for. However, with the approval rating for Congress below 20%, it appears the Democrats are running even faster, so, what's your point? Bush is not running for President in 2008, but many of those Democratic Senators in Congress are. So , exactly which party is in more trouble here?

Don't forget Congresss' numbers are lower. Ugh, vinnie beat me to it by 5 seconds.
Edit: I like to respond to the conservatives' pat answer about Congress too. Congress' ratings are always lower than the president. People have lost their faith in both branches! Why? Democrats couldn't deliver on the bill to end the war or stem cell research funding. The immigration bill, a hasty amalgam which was essentially what Bush wanted, has something in it for everyone to hate. Congress will accomplish some things that people can see in September and October. Maybe it will cut the funds for the war then...who knows? But in constrast to the executive branch, Congress will soon be a more effective and efficient body.

Most republicans are conservatives. President Bush is not. He is a Moderate. When he takes a position that we can support we do. When it takes a position on an issue that is not critically important, even if we don't like it, we try not to criticize. But when he takes a position that runs counter to our core values he gets called out on it.
I am proud of that fact. Liberals have been calling republicans the party of big business yet it is big business (among others) that are lobbying republican lawmakers to pass this horrendous immigration bill. The conservative voters are tearing the Senators who support it a new one.
I cannot speak for liberals but I know conservatives are conservatives because of our core values. To paraphrase the Gadsden:
"Don't Tread on Our Core Values"

Congress is a 14%.
Personally, I think the country is fed up with politicians in general.
When you're as rich as they are, you lose focus and have NO idea what the common man is going through. If the politicians had to worry about gas prices and medical care like the rest of us, there would be changes.
We need people in power who are of the people, by the people and for the people. What we have are politicians who are looking out for "number one".
Guess what...
We're not "number one".

Nixon had a disapproval rating of 66% just before he resigned, and George W. Bush had disapproval ratings even higher, at 70% -- the highest on record for any president. Bush can't even get better ratings than Nixon, a president who resigned in disgrace and only avoided prison by being pardoned by Gerald Ford. Go George go - back to Crawford TX.

Well, damn it, Mr. Bush is also trying to do something by telling the terrorists we won't put up with their "crap" one more time. I don't give a rat's a$$$ that his approval rating is where it is because, in the end, he will be exonerated from this dreadful war!

I wonder what libs like you will be doing once a republican wins in 2008?
Will you commit suicide like 13 libs did after Kerry won? (That really happened)
- Back up what? it was sarcasm. Every stupid little "poll" had Kerry winning before the election by a landslide. It's obvious they're run by liberals.
