I'm just curious,.. why do we not even talk about it? If you have cash, why are we so hell-bent on keeping it all to ourselves? What's the genrally, 'accepted', unwritten rule that says you can't ask another person to give, (not lend), you cash? Any insightful, intelligent responses please...

First of all I think some people are just naturally greedy. Then, if a person doesn't have much, he or she tends to hold on to it in case it's needed for an emergency. Personally when I've had financial problems my mom has offered to help, but I won't accept it since it is my responsibility. Now, the people who don't offer to give cash could feel it's not their problem. I don't know because if I was rich enough, I'd help all my friends.

Probably because we work so damn hard earning it in the first place! If i'd won the lottery then of course i'd give it away to people i know to make their lives a little easier ie: maying off their mortgage!

Because its hard to come by most of the time. I ask people to lend to me, only family etc though. Most people are happy to help if they can.

Did you work for your money? Are you happy to just give it away without thought of having it returned? You're a rare person if so!

what? you think we head off to work every day just for the luxury of being able to give hand-outs to people who are too lazy to work? why don't you give me some of your cash? i will give you my address and you can start "giving" me your money..i think you really ought to be asking a different question, namely, "are you taking applications for employment?"..and if you ever get a job, which i doubt, see if after a week or two of busting your hump, and you finally get a paycheck, how eager you are to give it to some smelly bum with a hard luck story..what a rediculous question.

I earned my money, therefore it is mine. It's called property rights. You can ask me to give you money if you want, but it won't happen. People who are just given everything rarely learn the value of what they own.

If we work hard for our money, why should we give it to anyone? We pay our bills and try keeping some for going out or for our kids

Because we work hard for our money and for someone to ask us to give them money is thought to be rude.

Pure selfishness if you are stinking rich. Otherwise, it is selfishness combined with the fact that it is hard to earn money and protect it.
