Hi....First off I am really surprised that you are having this problem. I wish I had the same. I am lucky to get my Lavender to survive more than a year. Here are a few good sites that might help you.

I could not help but wonder if possibly you might be having a problem with a Lilac bush instead of Lavender. Most of the Lavender info I have received has never really talked about Lavender getting out of control. Lilac however is notorious for taking over. I always have to struggle with my Lilac bushes to keep them from taking over the place. They sprout on root runners and are very prolific. Let me know if this is the case and I will try to help you more. I am just curious. Check out the sites to make sure that you have a Lavender problem and not Lilac. Hope this helped alittle.

i think of lavendar works appropriate in small areas -- like a drawer this is frequently closed. i might placed the dried lavendar buds (and perhaps the leaves) in a fabric bag, or one in all those bags you utilize for selfmade teabags. this might save the lavendar from making a large number interior the drawer. you may carry lavendar, yet i think of you prefer a great volume to freshen a room that way. you additionally can boil a sprint water, and placed your prunings interior the boiling water. Watch to be sure it does not boil dry! Lavendar is constructive with cinnamon sticks this form.

I would read this article before you touch your plant. I don't know how old your plant is but if it has never been pruned you could kill it. http://www.lavenderenchantment.com/Growing/pruning.htm
