Isn't it time they started taking responsibility for the success of their own community, instead of worrying about racists?

Ever since the first Asians arrived in America, there has been anti-Asian racism. This includes prejudice and acts of discrimination. For more than 200 years, Asian Americans have been denied equal rights, subjected to harassment and hostility, had their rights revoked and imprisoned for no justifiable reason, physically attacked, and even murdered

But you don't see Asians whining and complaining. They excell academically and let the racist naysayers rot in their own manure.

Isn't it time the blacks followed suit?

I agree. Asians learn English, a difficult language for them. They assimilate into our culture, work or start their own businesses. Blacks use the excuse their color makes people racist and they have no chance to blend in and succeed. It's pretty hard to hide the fact that someone is Vietnamese or Chinese etc. and yet they have accomplished more than the Blacks have since they were freed of slavery. Blacks chose to become slaves to drugs, gangs and lack of education.

While I am well aware of the discriminations that Asians as well as other ethnicities have faced in my country, I hope you aren't honestly trying to make a comparison between the historical realities of Blacks and Asians in America. I agree with you that, in too many cases, Black Americans give racism far more power than it is due in this modern era. I refuse to make excuses in 2007 for what happened decades and centuries ago. I have taken advantage of academic opportunities and I am an example of what one can accomplish when prepared to be successful.

But as a component of our total experience here, I refuse to equate the total subjugation of a people, in ALL aspects of their lives, to that of the Asian-American, from a historical viewpoint. It's OK to rant. Get on your soapbox about the failure of a segment of the diaspora if you wish. But please, by all means, try to keep your diatribes in context. That's all I ask!

Good observation. The ones screaming racism only make up part of the black community over all. However, they get the majority of the media attention when it happens.
And you are right...it's an easy scape goat that always seems like the easiest excuse.

We would hope so. Pulling the race card is very powerful. It can be used to silence opposition, fire foes, collect money in law suites, and many other things. Some of them will never give up this powerful tool. There are many black people irritated with this crap as well.

Well, I just asked my black co-worker, and he says that he never pulls the race card. I asked if he was sure, and he said yes. Stereotyping is only natural, but we must always remember that there are always exceptions.

I don't know, maybe we should turn you into a black man and then you can tell us! Besides, asians never experienced the systematic kidnapping and torture that blacks experienced.

I like the way black intellectuals have asserted that blacks can't be racists themselves..because of a lack of empowerment.

talk about built-in denial.
