I think its really good that a fund has been raised for Maddie, but what about all the other missing children in the world,The 800,000 that has been raised only serves to keep the Maccann's on extended holiday and allow them to use private jets,What What What about all the other distraught parents around just our country that do not get that support,I just cannot see the point in flying all over the world to have meetings what good will it acheive,Lets be honest how many other children that have gone missing have been found,Just one last thing what will happen to the fund if Maddie is not found?

With every passing day, the more convinced I become that this is a fraud. Why set up a limited company rather than a charity otherwise?

It is sad how only certain people get the publicity. I mean - what about Natalee Holloway? After all the political support that family got for her from the U.S. politicians, F.B.I., etc. I wonder how the parents of other missing teens felt.

I don't know how things work in other countries, but I do think that Maddie McCann is the only abduction I have ever heard about (from another country) so I am assuming the others did not get worldwide publicity. That is a shame for all the parents who have had children abducted.

I think the Mccanns should start a fund for ALL the missing children, now they have got the worlds attention. Maybe that way more children will be found and the missing childrens' families will have the same support they have had and it will be equal... I am not saying that it should have the same media coverage though.

Yes they have turned this into a media circus, but I feel they could turn this round and actually help people. rather than just being out for themselves.

Little Ben Needham has never been found after 15 years so does that mean these two McCanns will continue raking in the money ,posing for the Press, writing that holiday Blog and gadding merrily around the world for the next 14 + years. Oh God no....pleeeze ! With almost a million in the fund they should have a fun time for quite some years. It stinks!

Totally agree with your question.... but if it was say me or you that had left our children in a room and that had happened do you not think that we would have received a lot of bad press for leaving them or even social services being involved. Why is it when there are 2 professionals involved who obviously have money does this not happen. I pray to God that Maddie will be found and is still alive, but as the days go on... the hope dies.!

Perhaps if the other missing kids parents were professionals like the mccann's maybe then they would get the same attention. I think it's very unfair that the other missing kids got thrown on the sideline, don't get me wrong I want Madeleine to be found but the fact remains that her parents are at fault for her disappearance and they have not been held accountable for their actions. instead they've become celebrities. I also think Kate and Gerry have a very good idea of what took place that night and are not letting on...their stories are too contridicting.

Not really i mean how many children go missing every year and there all unaccounted for....
But they post a "innocent face" all of the news and money comes pouring in how many of you want to bet if this had been anything other than a white blond haired blue eyed girl they would not have had the same response if lets say the child was of a ethnic origin.

Don't get me wrong i want her found and i sympathise with the cause but they make a effort to find one child and ignore the thousands that go missing every year.

the whole thing is weird weird weird ... and gets more so.

where is that child??? who are the suspects??? are any properties being searched???

as for the money, there will always be people who will give money for causes, especially to find a child, even if it's dodgy (and I'm not saying the mccann fund is dodgy).

as for other missing children ... I'm afraid, sad as it is, that's the way things go. The controversies around this particular spectacular case may exhaust the public interest in child abductions for a very long time.

Agree with you. There are thousands of kids that go missing, many of them whose parents really would not have the money to go off into the sunset to find them. You are not gonna jet around the world and by chance find her are you? Its terrible what has happened, but the parents of Maddie should be at home looking after their other kids. You could spend your whole life looking, and they stil have their twins to think about. They have taken the wrong approach, and have lost alot of public support because of it. We do care about maddie, we just don't want to finance them jetting off all over the world. I cannot believe that until now, they still have not broken down hysterical. I would be in absolute bits, but clinging to the 2 kids i have at home who need me. How is this all affecting them?

Well as it is a limited company and the proviso is that they will give the surplus to help other parents if Madeleine is found, so if she isn't, and as they can't give all that money back, guess what they get to keep it. They haven't offered any to anyone else yet, so do you think they will? I have my doubts. Seems those who have donated have been conned because I think most believed it was a charity.
IT IS NOT.

The site does say that the money will be used for missng children elsewhere ...trust fund regulations say that collectors must spell out their objectives..

which they do and they do say that its priority is for Madelaines search but that any money will be used for missing children elsewhere...

they havent been spending that much money so far because of the generosity of the public including fre use of Sir Philip Greens jet.

In that way they are saving money....they do seemed to be focused on raising money (in Madelaines name) and campaigning to increase her profile than spending money on advertising say....but they might need that in the future...

So it may be to the benefit of other people though they are collecting in Madelaines name and people are donating for that in the first instance...we could blame the public for not giving to the missing persons charity in general....but then it is possible that that charity wouldnt have given this amount of money or attention to one case without a public furore...
so maybe its necessary to have a stand alone case...
