we have a token system here
buy a token for £1.00
give it to someone in need, they go to a shelter and get food, clothes and a bed for the night with it
even if they sell it, someone who really needs it, ultimately gets the help they need

Whenever I walk past someone begging I feel inclined to give them money, I imagine how awful it must be to be homeless, etc. and how I would feel in that position. Nobody knows of the circumstances which lead some people to end up in these situations and I think once you're there its very difficult to get back to having what most would consider a normal life. I don't question what they want the money for, each one of us makes our own decisions. I sometimes think that not everyone can be saved and just hope to make their existence more bearable. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I just make things worse but I feel that if you want to stop drugs a lack of money is not going to deter you, only a conscious decision will do that, as for the mentally ill or just the ones who have lost everything - they need all the help they can get.

Yes I have, especially during the holidays. And if I give I dont care if they get a drink, I mean lots of us de-stress with a drink and I have to believe it would be quite stressful to be homeless and down and out with noone that seemed to care about your well-being. Plus God sees our hearts with favor and knows that we have done our brotherly duty if we gave to some orphanage fund or church and the leaders misused the money. This is no different. What they do with my donation is between them and God.
I also give them a kind and encouraging word or some good but non-judgemental advice like, its cold here why dont you get to the M street shelter for the night, or Did you know they are hiring lots of people down at the mill?
We never know someone's story of despair and how they got homeless. I always see the homeless and think "There but for the grace of God go I". I do know that once you are homeless it is very hard to return to normalcy. I know I've been there and its not easy, and its quite easy to fall into deep depression and self-doubt. Finally, I think is this change or single bill in my pocket really going tomake a difference in my life? And I think to myself, dont be selfish. Give a little of the blessings you have received.

You know, it's funny.... but I help others out alot with change, etc. I've even given 2 young girls a ride home that spent the night in the holding tank for PI, and were walking miles home barefoot.
But, if the roles were reversed, & it was I that needed help....
do you think I would be shown the same amount of assistance from others that I give out ??? Seriously Doubtful.
Something to think about...... You all have a nice day.

now and returned. needless to say, you won't be able to manage to pay for to assist all human beings, yet i attempt to do something each and every each and every now and then. i do no longer stay in a city, so i do no longer stumble upon them in lots of cases. i might extremely supply them foodstuff. If I certainly have foodstuff in my automobile, i'm happy to furnish it, and that i've got been retaining some blankets in my automobile for the subsequent time I certainly have the prospect to furnish them away. So the appropriate may well be some dollars and foodstuff/blanket if I certainly have it with me. Plus, once you're able to furnish them something different than money, you already know that is going for use for the perfect motives. no longer basically blowing the money on booze and cigarettes.

Yes I have. When I used to live in Blackpool, I got to know a lot of the "street people" and I would get them hot food and drink and the occasional ciggie.

I do almost every time. Though, yesterday, there was this young girl, younger than me...looked good and didn't seem stupid...She asked me for some money for alcohol and I refused. I don't understand why people who are capable of finding a job humiliate themselves instead of working.

Have been known to sit down and talk to them when very drunk....whilst parting with large amounts of cash...well nearly 20 the last time....I have no recollection of sitting on the ground at 3am beside the ATM doing this....so my wonderful kindness may not exist!!
