Did someone make you mad or feel good about yourself or did you have a spirtual opening or something like that?

What a terrible place to be. Shyness is painful but can be overcome.

It's more a matter of self conditioning, visualization.
If it's truly something you want then you can change it.
Here is a practice I've used for (ahem) decades:
Every night when I go to bed I visualize situations I'm
uncomfortable in, then I visualize how I want to be in those situations.
I repeat this visualization until I fall asleep.
During the day time, during brain slack time, I rehearse the same.
The first time I actually used self-conditioning was 2 weeks before an interview for a job I really wanted but knew I wouldn't get unless I was more confident and outgoing. It worked.

Surprisingly to me, this has been so effective that no one sees me as shy.
Most think I'm very confident. (If they only knew)

This technique is so effective that I've even overcome deep fears.
The key is repetition and commitment.
Don't do it a day or 2 before an opportunity and expect great results.
Start now and in less time than you thought possible, it will change.

I still sometimes feel shy, but I no longer act shy. My life is just not workable with me being shy, so I don't allow myself to go there. I recognize my feelings as being a type of craziness that isn't helpful, and I refuse to feed that particular part of myself. One thing that helps is to focus on what other people are feeling, rather than on my feelings of shyness. Shyness is just a mental state, and you can choose to visit that state or not.

Going to nursing school (and being one of two males in the class). Having to interact with so many people on a daily basis, and with patients on a fairly intimate level, and having to develop concise communication skills, made me more confident in general.
